Three people lost their lives in a devastating road accident on Tuesday at 7 a.m. at Cibare Hill, Muyinga commune, northeastern Burundi. The tragedy occurred when a motorcycle carrying a man, his wife, and another passenger collided with a military truck while attempting to overtake a Probox car, local Magazine Jimbere reported.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the crash as harrowing. The motorcycle’s attempt to overtake the car ended in a direct collision with the truck, leaving all three riders dead on the spot.

Security personnel who arrived promptly identified the victims, though the two men’s bodies were severely disfigured due to the impact. The motorcycle was also heavily damaged.

The accident caused significant disruption, with traffic coming to a standstill as authorities worked to remove the bodies and clear the wreckage. Officials have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

This incident comes just days after another fatal accident in Bururi Province, southern Burundi, which claimed the lives of eight people. A speeding vehicle reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the road, leading to the deadly crash.
