Urunani basketball club of Burundi continued its impressive run in the Elite 16 Road to the Basketball Africa League- BAL 2025, defeating Uganda’s City Oilers 78-75 earlier on Sunday. This marks the Burundian team’s third win in the tournament’s qualifiers.

Despite a challenging first half, the team mounted a spectacular comeback in the second half to secure the victory. This win follows Urunani’s triumph over Kenya’s Fox BBC earlier on Friday, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination to represent Burundi on the continental stage.

“I am proud of Urunani’s performance. They have represented our country valiantly. Although the first half was tough, the players made a fantastic comeback,” said Patrick Panton, an enthusiastic supporter of Urunani.

Désire Ndikuriyo, head coach of Urunani Team B, praised the players for their effort and dedication. “Our players gave their all. It was a tough match, but their energy and teamwork led to this crucial win,” he said.

Another game for Urunani BBC is scheduled later this Monday for a ticket to the semi-finals against Kriol Star from Cape Verde.
